Message from Zhe Wen, Captain of CJC Cross Country:
Having gone through a year of training, sweat and hardwork under our coach Ms Elaine Lim, I do believe that the team has what it takes to overcome their competitors and to clock their personal bests, and if better, a medal. Although you guys are not able to come down to support us as the race is being held in the morning during lesson time, I do hope you guys will be supporting us in spirit and we will most definitely do our best during the race. We may not literally cross countries, but when we cross that finish line on Wednesday, we will know that we have ran the race of no regrets. And I would like to end of with a quote: "Endure the pain because giving up hurts even more." Thank you.The Ablaze team conducted a short interview via Email with Zhe Wen to find out more about his thoughts on this year's A Division competitions for Cross Country.
Q: How are you feeling about the upcoming season? A: I'm feeling quite excited about this year's season because for most of us it's the last nationals that we are going to participate in, so I hope to end it off with a race that we can all look back and feel proud about. Also the team has trained so hard over the past year and I feel that they're efforts won't go to waste and they'll achieve their personal best and even a medal for some!
Q: What are your goals for this season? A: For the guys team I really hope we get into the top 4 for the team category and individually I really hope Jared and Aldrich along with Anant will do CJC proud with a potential top 20 placing. As for the rest of the guys and girls I just hope that they'll give it their all and try all that they can to achieve the highest position that they can attain along with personal bests, to run the race of no regrets.
Q: What do you hope to gain as a team at the end of this season? A: The experiences that we had over the past year through all the competitions, training, camps and what not, I hope that it has brought us closer together as a team and also I hope that everyone will have grown in character, both individually and as a team.
Q: What do you wish from the student body in terms of support? A: The students won't be able to go down and support us cause our race is during school hours. But I hope that they will support us spiritually and if they have friends who are competing, just give them simple words of encouragement in the days leading up to our season. Hopefully with all this support,we'll do the school proud!
We wish you all the best, CJC Cross Country team! (: Update 21 March 2012 1934h: Results available on "Ablaze Update: 21 March" post.CJC IGNITE! FLAME ON!
